We have created a comprehensive fibre optic telecommunications package for HM Forces resettlement leavers who can utilise the ELCAS funding scheme and resettlement grants provided by the Ministry of Defence. Course modules:

This four-week bootcamp training course in fibre telecommunications will provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in fibre optic telecommunications. We employ blended learning techniques, enabling students to complete part of the course material before attending class.


We provide training in realistic scenario environments that closely resemble real-world settings. This includes working in underground chambers, with telegraph poles, street-side cabinets, and optical distribution frames typically found in exchanges. After completing all practical hands-on training, you will learn about fibre network testing and troubleshooting. We offer the same benefits to fibre broadband providers, developed in collaboration with them, to enhance the careers of many of the thousands of individuals we have trained over the years.

Can I use ELCAS funding to pay for the course?

Yes. The bootcamp is ELCAS approved, meaning eligible Armed Forces personnel can use their Enhanced Learning Credits to help fund the training. The scheme is designed by the Ministry of Defence to support service members in gaining recognised qualifications when preparing for civilian careers.



Will I work with the same equipment used by telecom engineers in the field?

Yes. During the course you train with professional fibre splicing and testing equipment used on real network deployments, including equipment from manufacturers such as Fujikura, Sumitomo, Viavi, EXFO and Fluke Networks. This helps ensure learners gain experience with tools commonly used across the telecom industry.



Do I need previous telecom or fibre experience before joining the bootcamp?

No prior fibre optic experience is required. The programme is designed to take learners from the fundamentals of fibre telecommunications through to installation, testing, and troubleshooting skills used in modern broadband networks.
