Advanced Fibre Optics Fault Finding & Testing
AD-OTDR

The Advanced Fibre Optic Testing and Fault Finding course will enable you to become a qualified Fibre Network Testing Engineer. It is meticulously designed to equip delegates with a comprehensive set of skills to test fibre optic systems accurately and compare them to industry test standards. The course combines theoretical concepts with practical sessions, enabling participants to perform the tests with confidence and in accordance with industry standards.
Our package includes:
✔️ Open Awards Level 3 Award in Advanced Fibre Optics Testing
More about this course:
The Advanced Fibre Optic Testing and Fault Finding course will provide delegates with an in-depth understanding of testing fibre optic systems using a range of test equipment, from fundamental light sources and power meter readings to the advanced setup of an optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR).
By the end of the course you will be competent in the following:
✔️ Light Source and Power Meter
✔️ Optical Loop Test Set (OLTS)
✔️ Correctly use live fibre identifiers to trace fibres
✔️ Fibre Inspection and how to test to IEC-61300-3-35
✔️ Correctly setting up an OTDR
✔️ Correctly setting the index of refraction (IOR)
✔️ Launch and tail leads
✔️ Optical Return Loss
✔️ Reflectance and connector loss
✔️ ITU fibre types and Optical Bands
✔️ In-depth trace analysis
✔️ Bi-directional testing using an OTDR
✔️ Fibre fault finding
✔️ Standards, including IEC 14763-3, IEC 61280-4-5
After completing this course, delegates will be confident in testing different types of networks in various deployments and will be awarded the Open Awards Level 3 in Advanced Testing and Fault Finding
