This course equips students with the expertise required to plan, design, and implement enterprise-level structured cabling systems that meet stringent industry standards and regulations. Key among these standards are the European Norm (EN) 50173 series and the EN 50174 series, which offer a well-defined framework for optimising performance, enhancing reliability, and ensuring safety within cabling infrastructures.

Students will explore critical aspects, including cable selection, topology design, and installation best practices, to create cabling solutions that efficiently support high-bandwidth applications, emerging technologies, and future growth. The curriculum combines in-depth theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical experiences, enabling students to develop competencies in utilising industry software tools for cable management and system design.

✔️ Select the correct structured cabling by specifying the cable system required to meet the client's needs

✔️ Select the correct fibre optic cabling required to meet the client's specifications

✔️ Produce job costings and project plans

✔️ Understand how to use the series of standards EN 50173 and EN 50174

✔️ Demonstrate specification and quality assurance
